嬉しきに
名も高井屋に
法華経の声
高井家２階の広間に掛けてある書。大正十一年（1922年）四月八日、会津の衆議院議員中野寅吉先生の筆になります。
四月八日はお釈迦様の誕生日。これにちなんで、日光・栗山（くりやま）を「苦離山（苦が離れる山）」に、そして、ウグイスの鳴き声（ホーホケキョ）を「法華経」にたとえられた、とのこと。以前ご祝儀でご来店された学芸員のお客様が、解読をしてくださいました。
百年ほど前の四月八日、高井家の庭の梅の木に遊びに来て鳴いていたウグイス。今も変わらず、ホーホケキョの声で我々に季節の移ろいを知らせてくれています。時代は変わっても変わらぬお客様の粋なはからい、感謝申し上げます。
On the second floor of Takaiya, there is a calligraphy written by Torakichi Nakano, a member of the House of Representatives, on 8 April 1922.
It describes how he ate buckwheat noodles of Takaiya, which was a buckwheat noodle shop that day, while listening to the song of a bush warbler. Today 8 April is the birthday of Buddha. The cry of Ho-hokekyo is compared to the Lotus Sutra (Hokekyo in Japanese).
The bush warbler is singing in the garden, just as it did a hundred years ago today.
